I sent the following to Maryrose:
Dear Maryrose,
I need your company's assistance. I live in the Beach Bungalows (178 Morning Breeze Lane, Port Hueneme). There is a water line project on Hueneme Road being done by Calleguas Water District. They're doing some kind of pile driving less than 75 feet from my home. Each time the machine hits the earth, it is equivalent to a 3.5 earthquake - I am not exaggerating. The entire house shakes; glassware and windows rattle; furniture jumps. There are now cracks in the exterior stucco of my house which I directly attribute to this construction. Seeing my house being subjected to this just makes me sick. It is like receiving 10 years of earthquakes in just two weeks time; the house is not designed for this violent mistreatment.
I called Calleguas, and they sent a representative out and he took photos of the damage. But rather than putting in a claim after the project is completed and after my house has been damaged even more, I would like to prevent any more damage from occurring right now. I have no idea what damage might be occurring to the foundation, and that damage might not become apparent until several years from now.
Also, between poundings, the house will shake, as if the poundings are creating a seismic event, possibly affecting a nearby earthquake fault. (Two poundings might occur separated by 20 seconds, and the house will shake both times, but between the two poundings, a jolt will occur, unrelated to either of the poundings.)
Please help me.
