At the meeting last Thursday, The Ormond Task Force voted to oppose the city of Oxnard's 2030 Plan because it still designates the area currently known as Halaco as an industrial area. The task force feels that the any plans made by the city should not deviate from the recommendations made by The Nature Conservancy. This resolution to oppose the 2030 plan was signed by various community and environmental groups. It was also signed by a few local officials.
On the positive side, the EPA is scheduled to demolish two of the buildings on the Halaco Site next month.
